Cottage Tales is a monthly mother-daughter bookclub based on picture books. Cottage Tales encourages the reading of classic picture books for mothers and their growing daughters, fostering conversation and creating wonder and excitement in what it means to grow up and to become a woman. Helping mothers to mentor their daughters through picture books.
Year 1 contains twelve carefully handpicked picture book titles chosen specifically to foster mother-daughter nurturing and mentoring. Along with the book titles you will find some carefully crafted questions to prompt great conversations with your daughter(s).
Why picture books?
Picture books are beautiful and can convey a message more easily and faster than a chapter book. They are very adaptable to all ages, this booklist is meant for growing up daughters from pre-teens on up.
Characteristics that I look for in each selected picture book title:
- That the text be engaging with captivating illustrations
- That it appeals to girls in particular
- That it elevates the mind and triggers deep meaningful conversations
I make sure to cover multiple genres throughout the year, igniting curiosity, wonder and imagination.
