Summer Is Here, Now What?

Very often I am reluctant to even take a break in the summer… Because of “I’m bored”. And it is so hard to restart and to implement a routine and a schedule again in the fall. It makes taking a summer break almost not worth it. So how is a mother to get a break (for herself to attend to her other home duties for a bit) and maintain some sanity?

A Sauntering Summer

Created out of the depth of my own struggle, A Sauntering Summer is the answer to this summer break dilemma. It enables our family to maintain a routine and a pursuit of learning through the summer without me having to be fully involved. A Sauntering Summer allows my children to self-direct their summer pursuits while solving the “I’m bored” refrain. It also allows me to be able to focus on my other home endeavors: gardening, repainting, canning, etc… without having to fit them around school. While my children participate in all my endeavors, enabling them to self direct for a few weeks relieves me of that work. My children always learn and discover so much through this method, that I am sometimes tempted to keep it going year round, lol! This is a 21 pages document full of tips tricks and ideas for a wonder seeking summer. Add to it the blog posts referred below and you have the recipe to a great summer.
