October recap
October has been a lovely month here in Colorado, we have been blessed with a beautiful Indian Summer! We were able to go up to the mountains to explore the aspen leaves changing color.
The October booklists were chock full of discoveries from Pablo Picasso to how the first bandaids came to be and from the dedication of Mount Rushmore to the building of the Statue of Liberty. Our most enjoyable read was Moving the Millers’ Minnie Moore Mine Mansion: A True Story by Dave Eggers, illustrated by Julia Sarda.
And as a cherry on the cake today, October 30th, is the anniversary of the radio broadcast that terrified America: Aliens are Coming!: The true Account of the 1938 War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast, by Meghan McCarthy.

Activities
Radio Show: Write a news report script together as a family and then record it. Send it to Grandma and Grandpa (or anyone else you can think of) and see if they believed you. Make sure to be as realistic as possible.
Radio: History is about exploring our always changing world, radios were the first technology to link people to each other, without knowing each other.
Story: listen to the original 1938 broadcast of the War of the Worlds (59:00)
